Cutie Baguio Ukay Finds

As promised, here are a few of my Baguio finds. I still couldn't find the others, so hindi ko ma-post lahat. I don't remember exactly how much each cost, but all were pretty affordable. Ang dami ko nang PR stuff. I am not even actively collecting...napansin ko na lang, dumarami na sila. Derdo gave me a Peter Rabbit plate+bowl set in a quilted basket, and it's so adorable and charming. *Thank you, Derdo!* I'll post it in the future -- it needs a post of its own kasi nga super cute.

Cath Kidston Haul

Remember I bought a Cath Kidston backpack for Sharkteeth last year? I was supposed to purchase a rolling pin as well, but I bode my time hoping for a further discount. When it appeared na wala nang forthcoming na discount, I placed my order, but sold out na. Sabi nga ni Bacon sa Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, "'Too late, too late' will be the cry when the man with the bargains has passed you by." Nakailang sale na ang Cath Kidston after I bought the bag, pero di nila ni-sale yung bagong rolling pin in stock, plus masyadong magastos ang first two quarters of 2014 namin, comatose pa wallet ko, with a Glascow Coma Scale of 2.

A month back, ewan ko ba kung sino sa kanila ang nag-tip sa akin na may sale ang Cath Kidston, either si D or si L -- word of warning: naku, those two, who share my interest in Cath Kidston and other pretty stuff, delikado yang dalawa na yan -- kung ano-ano ang naiisipan kong bilhin dahil sa kanila. Hehehehe, joke lang, Cath Kidston sisters. When I checked, the much-coveted rolling pin was on sale!!! Yay! Agad-agad I got in touch with the two and another CK-obsessed friend. Agad-agad din may order yung dalawa (L and D). Hahahaha! What is "excited," Alex Trebek? We shared the shipping fee, which was pretty steep (20 GBP).

Unboxing. Hindi na ako nakahintay.
I was in Sharkteeth's school to pick her up -- binuksan ko na, took a picture, and IG'd it.

Friday Favorite Five

In my bid to post regularly, I'm going, or at least try, to post every Friday five of my favorite things. They might be current or past possessions, though others might not be necessarily mine -- could be a wish for my fairy godmother (where are you, by the way?), could be something I saw and found interesting, but it will always be driven by beauty and functionality, hopefully both, but that's a tall order.

1. Deer Beads Earrings, from Chicwish, $12.67, made of 30% metal and 70% glass. Chicwish has a quite explicit instruction to avoid contact with liquids. I bought a pair mid-December (had a 30% discount for signing up), but I have yet to receive them. Online tracking pegs it at the delivery office, which is the local post office, I assume.  I don't have any illusions about the quality of these earrings. Surely, I can wear this for 3 days tops and then develop an allergy soon after. I'm thinking of buying some loose stones then have the reindeer copied by an alahera. I should ask Leah for some recommendations and advice.

2. Cake stand with with bird decor. I don't know where I saw this, I was just taken by the charming bird on top of the cover. Dimensione might have one. Hopefully affordable.

3. Okeanos ballet flats, from Nine West, ~PHP3100. I've already posted this. I've worn it a couple of times already, and they are quite comfortable. I didn't even need to break them in. Note though that they run a size bigger. Some reviews mentioned that the flowers have to be taken care of, and since I don't want to be minding them constantly, I did some preventive maintenance -- I superglued them. Perfect.

4. Ghost chair, from Philippe Starck, ~PHP11,ooo. Described  in their website as "a witty take on the classic Louis XVI armchair, Philippe Starck's Louis Ghost pares the original design back to the merest shadow of its lines. Made from deceptively strong, injection-moulded polycarbonate, it is shock- and weather-resistant. The chair is also available in black." No way am I shelling out 11,000 pesos for a single chair, no matter how witty it is, well, maybe if it can reply with funny punchlines, I might reconsider! I checked out sellers in Alibaba, and one seller replied and pegged the price of 10 chairs (including shipping, no eVAT yet) at ~$700, which makes one chair less than 3500 pesos. Not bad, right? I don't think I'd be lucky with the customs duties if I order 10, but ordering fewer will make each chair more expensive. I have to think long and hard before I order these.

 5. Cath Kidston Fujifilm Instax Mini. I don't know how much this is. I was initially interested in getting the baby pink Fujifilm Instax Mini, but this one from Cath Kidston is infinitely cuter. However, with all the digitalization happening, I don't see the point of getting one. It's an eye candy, sure, but I am trying lessen my clutter and buying of stuff. (It's January, New Year's resolutions are still fresh. Hahahaha! Let's see around midyear.)

Can I Take You Home?

I pinched a branch of malunggay (horseradish, Moringa oleifera) from a tree on my way home. When this little cutie saw me with a branch of leaves on my hand, she promptly left the tuft of grass she was munching on and approached me. Quite a self-possessed little one, she proceeded to munch on my malunggay. After she finished everything, including the actual branch, she smelled my hand and tried to lick it, perhaps hoping I have more. She loves being scratched on the head and ears, but when I tried to leave, she followed me. I was thinking...a few more meters and I can lure her to our house and I can have a pet goat Yay! KID-ding lang. Apparently, there's another malunggay tree near our house and I got a few more branches. I gave some to the mom, and the rest to the cute "goatlet," who can't seem to have enough. I tried to hide a small branch behind my back for my green shake, but when I turned around, she was already nibbling on it. Greedy bugger. Having finished my share, she proceeded to inspect my other hand to see if I'm hiding another branch there. She is so adorable. And her skin is so soft. I wanted to bring her home. Just a few more steps, little cutie. Just a few more. "Step into my parlor," said the spider to the fly...hahahahahahaha! Joke!!!

I miss living in a farm. I grew up with cows, ducks, chickens, cats, pigs, dogs, and rabbits, and I regret that Sharkteeth is missing out on that experience. Our calves were so used to domestic life that they would climb a couple of steps to our kitchen and just barge in. Hahahaha! You'd be eating your breakfast and next thing you know, a baby cow is peering in. I remember crying when it was time for us to sell a cow...it was like selling a friend. Because it is that. Hay...come to think of it, it must be a blessing that Sharkteeth doesn't have to experience such heartache.

Just a few more steps, little goatie.
