Trip Katangahan. What Else Is New?

Sobra-sobra-sobrang katangahan. When I checked the screengrab of my itinerary, akala ko ETD yung ETA. Tanga lang. Hays.

Na-realize ko na lang when I was queuing sa cab and TheHusband messaged me asking for my ETA. Such a stupid and expensive mistake. I called TheHusband. Medyo naiyak ako. It was so frustrating and embarrassing. Together we looked for available flights, whether a red eye to Cebu that night or to Dumaguete the following morning. The PAL options are equally bleak. Thankfully, TheHusband found a relatively cheap red eye flight to Cebu. My plan was to get the first bus going to Liloan, the southern part of Cebu closest to Dumaguete. Na-delay ang flight. Ang tagal. Actually, it doesn't have any bearing naman on my bus trip going to Dumags kasi the bus leaves around 2 am pa. But inspiration struck. I went and asked the ground steward kung pwedeng i-rebook na lang ako sa Dumaguete. Long story short, na-rebook ako without having to shell out additional fees and what-nots. Kebs. Sanay na. My only regret eh hindi ako masyadong nakapag-mall. It was a bit of a downer to an otherwise happy day of meeting with Dbrightspot, Diane, and Tsokoholik.

Lessons learned:
1. Check itinerary carefully. Can't stress this enough.
2. Be nice to ground stewards. Or to everybody for that matter.
3. Dress smartly when traveling.
4. Walang mawawala kung magtatanong. Either yes or no lang naman ang sagot. :)
5. CebuPacific's fare increases as the date of departure approaches; PAL's stays the same. And PAL's website shows available seats that aren't available anymore sa booking offices.

I was thousands of feet up in the air when I wrote this, and I was marveling at the beauty of the view. The plains, mountains, and bodies of water are all equally majestic. I cannot say the same when I'm on land, however. On my first night back in Manila, I caught myself thinking, I wanna go back to Dumaguete. I wanna go back to Dumaguete. I wanna go back to Dumaguete. Hahahahaha! I am thoroughly Dumaguetefied na. Parang nakakasakal. To think just a few years back eh I was part of that buzz, that constant hum of city living. Saan ka naman makakahanap ng lugar where you'd be hit on (Babe, may asim pa asawa mo) and literally hit (on the nose!!!) on the same day? BUT...cue in Hotdog's Manila. :)

  1. So eto na ang most awaited kwento, in fairness naman Mother you don't look like taong grasa when we met. Ang soshalin mo kaya tignan. No joke 'to ha. You dress well even in white blouse and jeans. Ako talaga ang hindi binabagayan ng white. I enjoyed our short meet up, although I feel so bitin!!! I want to sagap more chika and backstories (oops password protected) hahaha

Sana maulit at next time, sa CK na tayo haha

  2. Naku, Diane, ang siste, I had to repack, so I just wore my "smart" Chanel-esque tweed jacket over my blouse -- I swear, nagmukha akong tao. Hahahahaha! Kita uli tayo sa Feb, kasi gusto kong humingi ng tips sa inyo how to level up the blog. Hehehehehe! Gusto ko spoiled level! :)

  3. I had a hunch na ito nga ang nangyari sayo - you mistook the ETD as the ETA. Alam mo kung bakit? Kse nangyari na sa akin ito haha! But nakahabol k'me s flight namin to Cebu because it was a weekend and walang traffic from Makati to NAIA 3. But grabe panic ko! At saka last call na talaga nung dumating k'me sa airport.

Since then, I highlight the ETD and ETA na in my ticket, at magkaibang kulay dapat hehe!

Swerte mo pa rin hindi ka pinagbayad for a new ticket. Ayan, intact pa yung pambili mo ng Cath Kidston bag haha!

    Merry Christmas!

    1. Hehehehe, the embarrassing thing is nagkaganyan na ako last year nung papunta kaming Boracay, pero nakaabot kami nun. Christmas miracle talaga.

Actually, I bought a new ticket, going to Cebu. Ang hindi lang ako pinagbayad ay rebooking from Cebu to Dumaguete. Makakabili sana ng either CK bag or isang ghost chair. :)

  4. Nyahahahahaha, ooooppps sorry di ko napigilan tumawa. At least you're honest. It reminds me of what happened kasi to my in-laws, naiwan din sila ng plane when they traveled to Bohol last year for their annual vacay. Haha. :)

P.S. If I had a choice, I'd live in the province, too. Mas sariwa ang hangin at mas tahimik. Basta lahat mas maganda. Maybe during my retirement years when I plan to own a farm house at some rural/suburb area and do some gardening na lang ang peg every day. Exciting! :)

    1. Hahahaha!
I feel freer here.

    2. Yes, the best sa province! Ibang-iba talaga. Laking probinsya kasi ako eh. Nueva Ecija.

I can still remember the time we play sa gubat, picking fruits like bayabas, duhat, mabolo, etc. Naisip ko nga, I had a very privileged childhood, not finance-wise but experiences.

I'd love to hear from you, good or bad. And remember, if you can dish it, you better be able to take it!
